When you think of St Louis, it’s likely that one image comes to mind: the iconic Gateway Arch, created in 1966 to celebrate westward expansion under Thomas Jefferson. Getting a view of the 63-story Arch from your hotel room helps create the ultimate St. Louis experience. Other city hotels offer lovely views of the Mississippi River and Busch Stadium. Here are five great hotels with a view in St. Louis.

Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis (999 N. 2nd St.; 314-881-5800) Downtown

Elegant ambience meets excellent service and big views of both the Mississippi River and the Gateway Arch. Timeout calls the 200-room Four Seasons “one of St Louis’ most luxurious stays, with breathtaking views of the Arch, an on-site casino, and a restaurant helmed by a James Beard award-winning chef.” If you want a room with a view, be sure to ask for an Arch View as opposed to the City View. (Some online reviewers found the latter underwhelming.) But anyone can get a view while dining. “Rooftop venue for lunch was a delight,” says a Google reviewer, “And such a great view of the riverfront! The food was wonderful as was the service.”   >> Book this hotel for less

Hyatt Regency St. Louis At The Arch (315 Chestnut St.; 314-655-1234) Downtown

Travel+Leisure once declared this 910-room Hyatt Regency, “smack dab in the heart of St. Louis.” It’s arguably the best hotel in all of Missouri, and certainly among the best hotels with a view in St. Louis. “Some of the 910 rooms have views of the Arch and the Mississippi River; others have views of downtown.” The magazine also gave it props for being pet-friendly, having a fitness concierge, and the all-important free Wi-Fi. On Yelp, some reviewers complain about the cost of an arch-view room, while one says “it’s most definitely worth spending the extra money. Our arch-view room on the 15th floor was absolutely amazing!”   >> Book this hotel for less

St. Louis Union Station Hotel (1820 Market St.; 314-231-1234) Downtown

It was the city’s grand train station in a former life—and the 539-room hotel, now part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, plays that up beautifully. Condé Nast Traveler says the hotel“encompasses all the opulence of an antiquarian transit hub, with intricate stained glass windows and sky-high ceilings.” Depending on the room, you could have a view of the amusement park and Ferris wheel across the way, or of the hotel’s courtyard gardens, where trains used to run. “My view wasn’t great, but not a big deal,” says a Google reviewer. “The hotel is beautiful on the outside and just amazing inside.” Indeed, most travelers agree that one interior view is best, thanks to the nightly light show on the vaulted ceiling of the Grand Hall lobby.   >> Book this hotel for less

Drury Plaza Hotel St. Louis At The Arch (2 S. 4th St.; 314-231-3003) Downtown

Comprised of three buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, this downtown hotel still has original features like Italian marble and Waterford crystal chandeliers. And thanks to the addition of an eighth floor terrace, it has also has big views of the Arch and downtown city lights. “Very interesting architecture,” says a Google user. “And most rooms on the east side have a view of the St. Louis Arch.” On Trip Advisor, one user raved that “the view, both day and night ,was incredible. Along with our room, we were given a card which entitled us to a complimentary breakfast, a dinner buffet and three drinks per person per day.”  >> Book this hotel for less

Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark (1 S. Broadway; 314-421-1776) Downtown

This downtown hotel is a triple threat when it comes to views: You can choose from city, arch or ballpark views of Busch Stadium across the street. “If one of the reasons for your visit to St Louis is to see the Cardinals in action, consider the Ballpark Hilton,” says Timeout. “The rooftop 360 restaurant and lounge offers a built-in party overlooking the ballpark.” Some Google reviewers complain that the rooms are not as nice as the lobby. “A bit underwhelming for a Hilton,” says one user.  >> Book this hotel for less
