A two-hour drive from Vancouver, Whistler offers mountain paradise in Canada’s British Columbia. Come during winter for world-class, Olympics-worthy slopes at the dual ski resorts of Whistler Blackcomb, or plan a trip during warmer months for hiking and biking. Year-round, there is plenty of dining and shopping in Whistler Village. Lodging options are scattered around the area, with spots near the Blackcomb base, in the village, or along the mellow Creekside area. Here are the best hotels in Whistler.

Fairmont Château Whistler (4599 Chateau Blvd.; 604-938-8000) Whistler

“A classic luxe lodge in any season,” writes Forbes Travel Guide of this 550-room grand dame that “echoes the style of Canada’s grand railway hotels, offering classic luxury for a mountain getaway.” The resort, located between the village and ski resort, features several upscale dining options, a spa, and a golf course. One Google reviewer writes that there are “lot of restaurants close by. Quick access to ski hills in winter and mini-golf, bike and walking trails, and museums as well.” Another recommends the concierge-level gold rooms: “The premium is well worth it, given that it includes exclusive amenities and a reception lounge.” >> Book this hotel for less

Four Seasons Resort Whistler (4591 Blackcomb Way; 604-935-3400) Whistler

This Four Seasons outside of Whistler Village “is slightly removed from the action—and proud of it,” writes Condé Nast Traveler. “This is a classic Whistler hotel: sophisticated yet also rooted in the outdoors, with lots of wood and stone. A frequent and efficient shuttle service (as well as a private driver) can whisk you back and forth whenever you desire. It’s also within strolling distance of the village’s shops and restaurants.” The hotel has a steakhouse and a spa, and “the room really impressed me,” writes a Google reviewer. “A walk-in closet, a massive bathroom, a table by the window for eating, a small balcony. The room wasn’t cheap, but I felt like I was getting my money’s worth.” >> Book this hotel for less

This Westin is “conveniently located close to both ski lifts and civilization,” according to U.S. News & World Report. “The 400 suites feature kitchenettes, dining areas and Westin Heavenly beds.” One Google reviewer writes that the hotel is “located at the end of the main path through the village, so it’s close to everything” while another writes that “the room was “like your own condo. Everything new. Full kitchen, fireplace, separate living and sitting room. Spacious bathroom and a balcony with chairs.” >> Book this hotel for less

This all-suites boutique hotel “sits right in the heart of the village, extremely close to everything else you could need,” writes Condé Nast Traveler. “It’s basically the center of the action. It also has a private jacuzzi on the roof.” Suites come with full kitchens and gas fireplaces, and guests have access to bike and ski valets and GoPro rentals. “The location is perfect, directly in front of the gondolas,” writes a Google reviewer. “We opted for a two-bedroom suite, and the fireplace in the living space made it cozy and the view of the mountain was amazing! I also loved all the small touches like the yoga mat and the hot chocolate bar for apres ski.” >> Book this hotel for less

Nita Lake Lodge (2131 Lake Placid Rd.; 604-966-5700) Whistler
