Choose your kind of fun in the Lake of the Ozarks area: The sprawling manmade lake in central Missouri offers lot of ways to play—boating, fishing, water sports—as well as hiking and kicking back on shore. Most of the area’s lodgings are located in the towns of Lake Ozark and Osage Beach. You’ll find independent hotels and laidback lodges that often have easy access to marinas. Here are the best hotels near Lake of the Ozarks.

The Lodge of Four Seasons (315 Four Seasons Dr; 573-365-3000) Lake Ozark

Staying at this 356-room waterfront resort feels like “you have a wealthy friend with a fabulous lakeside property,” writes Afar. Expect an “Ozarks-chic vibe” in the lobby bar with “circular seating, live piano music, and carefully crafted cocktails.” (Note, this property is not part of the Four Seasons brand.) The hotel has its own marina with boat rentals, along with four pools, a Japanese-style spa and two golf courses. A Tripadvisor user writes that “the lodge is charming and beautiful. Yes, it is showing its age but everything was clean and well-cared for. The staff were great, and it’s really close to a main strip with plenty of nightlife and dining choices.” >> Book this hotel for less
