Though it has a ski resort at its heart, Montana’s Big Sky has four-season appeal. During the winter sports seasons, staying here affords you easy access to deep powder and long ski runs, while warmer months bring plenty of hiking, horseback riding, fly fishing and ziplining. And year round, its Mountain Village has a wealth of places to eat, drink and shop—plus, Yellowstone National Park is only an hour away. Some but not all hotels are officially affiliated with the ski resort and have similar perks like included lift tickets or a ski valet. Here are some of the best hotels in Big Sky that make a great home base for adventure.
The Summit Hotel (60 Big Sky Resort Rd.; 800-548-4486) Big Sky
“Hanging your hat here will put you within walking distance of Big Sky’s restaurant scene,” writes U.S. News & World Report of this hotel that is part of the Big Sky ski resort, so you can easily bundle in lift tickets. It offers “traditional guest rooms, condominium-style spaces and penthouse suites,” some with “fireplaces and kitchens, and some with hot tubs.” During downtime, make the most of the onsite pool and spa facilities. A Tripadvisor user writes that the “kitchenette was great, as we were able to have breakfast and some lunches in the room. We had free lift tickets each day to go up the mountain. You can rent frisbee golf and mountain bikes in the village next to the hotel.” >> Book this hotel for less
