What is it like to stay at a Montage Hotel?

In a nutshell: Enjoy vacation-home ambience with all the perks of a luxury hotel. This line of hotels launched in 2003 with a California resort modeled after a Craftsman-style beach bungalow. (Albeit one that pulls out the stops with views, thoughtful cuisine, and a fabulous spa.) The hotel brand has eight properties in North America that offer residence ownerships. Indeed, this can be your long-term vacation home.

What to expect: Low-key but very plush, Montage resorts exude a luxurious kind of casual comfort. Think comfy couches, fireplaces, rocking chairs. You’ll find all of the perks of a big resort—spa, pools, golf, and kids clubs—as well as lovely grounds with hiking trails, bicycles, or fishing ponds.

Design: Each Montage property reflects the classic design or architecture of its location—like the Craftsman design in Laguna Beach, Baja-style sleek modernism in Los Cabos, or mountain-lodge vibe in Deer Valley. Properties tend to be decorated with local art as well.

Room categories: Rooms categories vary by property. But Montage resorts typically start with rooms that are categorized by their views. There are Suites, with separate living spaces, and Residences, which have kitchens and up to four bedrooms. Lodgings vary in their amenities across the brand, but typically include high-thread-count sheets, smart TVS, and deep soaking tubs,.

Club Floor Upgrade: Montage properties do not offer a Club Level.

Fun Facts: The company’s Hearts of Montage volunteer outreach program invites employees to pitch in within their communities, focusing on supporting at-risk youth, environmental stewardship, and senior care.

Montage Amenities

Breakfast: Paid breakfast is available at on-site restaurants, or may be bundled into a bed-and-breakfast rate.

On-Site Dining: Montage properties typically have at least one on-site restaurant and lounge. Montage restaurants focus on fresh regional and seasonal ingredients, and have extensive wine lists.

Room Service: Yes.

Wi-Fi: Montage properties offer free Wi-Fi in rooms and public spaces, as part of the resort fee.

Fitness Room: Montage properties have a fitness center with exercise machines and weights, and most offer fitness classes, guided walks, or yoga classes.

Spa: Montage properties have an onsite Spa Montage that features a menu of massages, facials, and other body treatments, again channeling the location’s native ingredients and scents.

Pet Friendly: Montage resorts welcome pets, with varying restrictions and fees.
