Ohio’s capital is also a classic college town, as home of The Ohio State University. Stay downtown for easy access to the city’s restaurants, the Columbus Museum of Art, and the foodie magnet North Market. Or choose a hotel in the University District to be close to campus. Or, consider staying in the Short North Arts District, north of downtown, lined with diverse restaurants, shops and public art. Here are the best hotels in Columbus.
Hotel LeVeque, Autograph Collection (50 W Broad St.; 614-224-9500) Downtown
When the 47-story building that houses this hotel was first built in 1939, it was the fifth-tallest building in the world. Today, the “original architectural elements expertly merge with the hotel’s contemporary style,” writes US News & World Report, “with maroon marble columns and modern gold light fixtures” as well as details in the 149 rooms like gold-frame mirrors and telescopes. But there’s more to this hotel beyond the grand ambience. A Tripadvisor user likes that their room had “a good-sized desk, great bed and a very quiet night sleep. The bar had a good happy hour menu and the Starbucks in the lobby was a great bonus.” >> Book this hotel for less
