What is it like to stay at an Omni Hotel?

In a nutshell: Omni occupies two realms of the hotel universe. They are either big city hotels or expansive leisure resorts, with plenty of luxurious ambience and creature comforts all around. What began in 1958 as a family-owned motel in New Hampshire has grown to 60 properties across North America.

What to expect: These are great hotels for meetings, weddings and big parties—they feel luxurious but not exorbitant. If you’re staying at a city Omni, expect a classic high-rise-style hotel, sometimes even with historic back story. Outside the city, Omnis tend to be traditional resorts with stately ambience, impressive pools and golf.

Design: The aesthetics reflect the individual properties. At the Omni La Costa in Southern California, for instance, red-tiled roofs and Spanish-style décor creates a relaxing hacienda environment. At Kentucky’s Omni Louisville, a glassy high rise is accented with sleek interiors and retro details.

Room categories: Deluxe-level rooms come with a roomy work space and one king or two queen beds. Premier rooms are the next level up. That means a little more space, better views, or just sit on higher floors of the hotel. Suites add separate sitting areas. All room levels typically come with Serta pillowtop beds and triple-sheet bedding.

Club Floor Upgrade: Some Omnis offer Club-level rooms with access to a lounge with free breakfast and an evening reception. Club level rooms may be a little more plush as well, perhaps with upgraded bath amenities.

Fun Fact: Be sure to join the freeSelect Guest program—which is not based on points—to get immediate perks like free WiFi, morning beverage delivery, and turndown service. Stay at the Omni San Diego for views inside the neighboring stadium Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres.

Omni Hotel Amenities

Breakfast: Paid breakfast is available at on-site restaurants. Some hotel packages may include a free breakfast at the on-site restaurant. And guests who stay in Club Level rooms get free breakfast.

On-Site Dining: Omnis typically have at least one on-site restaurant. In addition, there’s often a fine-dining option, as well as a bar-and-grill. The chain tries to emphasize farm-to-table cuisine through its “Flavors of the World” program of authentic international cuisine. Some culinary offerings are notable in their own right, such as the legendary rolls at Boston’s Parker House. Think also of the acclaimed Noé restaurants in Houston and Los Angeles.

Room Service: Yes.

Wi-Fi: Free WiFi in public spaces. Also, Select Guest loyalty program members get complimentary wireless access in rooms.

Fitness Room: Most Omni properties have a fitness center with cardio and weight equipment. Select Guest members can request a free in-room Get Fit Kit. This includes a five-pound kettlebell, mini contour weights, a muscle therapy foam roller, push-up bars, and yoga mat.

Some Omni properties are famous for their spas, such as the Homestead’s hot springs and the Omni La Costa. The latter put itself on the map in the 1960s as the largest spa of its kind in the world.
