Beaver Creek hotels

The Colorado ski town of Beaver Creek first made its reputation as a quieter, more local alternative to Vail. But over the years, the mountainside village has enhanced that reputation thanks to its family-friendliness and an upscale ambience. With great hiking trails and a walkable village, it makes a great warm-weather getaway, too. Here are some of the best hotels in Beaver Creek, whether you want to ski, hike or just relax back.

The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch (0130 Daybreak Ridge Rd.; 970-748-6200) Avon

Forbes says that this “giant stone and timber structure evokes a true sense of Western place, and has an extremely user-friendly ski-in/ski-out location right at the base of one of the most important lifts in Beaver Creek resort.” The magazine also commends it for its club-level floor, a great spa, and for being dog-friendly. One Google reviewer finds it a little too dog-friendly, with dogs in the dining area, and said “it isn’t luxury, not quite a Ritz-Carlton in my experience, more like a slightly higher-end Marriott. But the building is beautiful, the setting stunning, the restaurants are exceptional and overall the staff were superb.”   >> Book this hotel for less

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa (136 E Thomas Pl.; 970-949-1234) Beaver Creek

This 190-room branch of the Hyatt “offers luxe digs in the heart of the base village, along with a signature spa featuring the Aqua Sanitas Roman Baths experience,” writes Travel+Leisure. One Google reviewer loves “the 5-star feel, and lots of nooks with fireplaces to hang out and read,” while another commends this as a summer getaway. “We went on a 5-mile hike across the slopes over to the Alpine lake. The little shopping village around the hotel had some nice places to eat, and we visited the Betty Ford Botanical Gardens.”   >> Book this hotel for less

Beaver Creek Lodge, Autograph Collection (26 Avondale Ln.; 970-845-9800) Beaver Creek

CNN hailed this member of the Marriott brand in Beaver Creek Village as “the perfect destination for families” thanks to theski school located right outside the front door,” and the fact that “all rooms are suites, outfitted with a fireplace and kitchenette.” One Yelp user warns that the resort is not fully ski-in, ski-out while another recommends asking for a creekside view room: “It’s worth it for opening the door or window at night for the cool air or just hearing the creek run. ”

The Osprey at Beaver Creek (10 Elk Track Rd.; 970-429-5042) Beaver Creek

Want to be right by the slopes? “When it comes to ski-in/ski-out access, the Osprey owns bragging rights as the closest resort to a ski lift in North America,” writes Travel+Leisure of this 47-room hotel. “The Strawberry Park Express chair lift is a 26-foot walk from the lodge’s ski valet.’ A Google reviewer agrees and adds that “at the end of the day, the concierge at the door takes your ski boots and puts them in a heated locker. There are warm beverages waiting for you upon entry. The rooms with fireplaces are my favorite.”   >> Book this hotel for less

Chateau Beaver Creek (17 Chateau Ln.; 970-949-1616) Beaver Creek

Treat yourself at this condo-style resort that Forbes compares to a Ritz-Carlton, calling it an “extremely high-end residence property, built with a European luxury aesthetic, that is also run as a boutique hotel.” Many online reviewers rave about the onsite restaurant Splendido, though others like the user-friendliness. “The room we stayed in was spacious and featured an unintrusive kitchenette area, perfect for storing and heating up snacks or a light meal,” says one Google reviewer. “Nice hotel style resort and easy slope access via a gondola station.”
