Divers love Bonaire for its clear warm waters, an amazing coral reef, and the rainbow of underwater life. As the “B” in the ABC of Dutch Caribbean islands off the coast of Venezuela, Bonaire offers mostly independent resorts rather than big brand names, and many are located in or near the island’s capital Kralendijk. Along with pools and spas, some Bonaire resorts have “house reefs” where you can go diving or snorkeling steps from the hotel. Here are five of the best dive resorts on Bonaire.
Harbour Village Beach Club (71 Kaya Gob. N. Debrot; 800-424-0004) Kralendijk
While it “offers just 40 rooms, suites, villas, and beach houses, this expansive property offers the luxe amenities of a much larger resort,” writes Travel+Leisure, including a PADI 5-Star dive and watersports center where you can arrange dive packages or one-off experiences. The resort also has a 60-slip marina where you can rent a boat or book a fishing charter. A Tripadvisor user calls it “relaxed and beautiful. The room had a big closet for gear and the kitchenette was convenient. The beach was nice. We were able to snorkel day and night, and there are three spots to dive right there.” >> Book this hotel for less
Delfins Beach Resort Bonaire (44 unt Vierkant; 599-715-5000) Kralendijk
Enjoy an onsite dive center as well as the big-hotel amenities at this 148-room hotel that’s part of the Hilton Tapestry line. Travel+Leisure likes that it sits “on a calm stretch of sand” and its “on-site dining ranges from beach barbecue to the island’s best, Brass Boer.” The hotel also has a spa and two magnesium pools. Choose from classic rooms, connecting family rooms, or condo-style villas. A Google reviewer writes that “the villa was spacious and well-equipped, and the resort food fabulous. Diving and snorkeling starts right at the beach and other activities (mangrove kayaking, windsurfing, city center, national park) are not far away.” >> Book this hotel for less
Van der Valk Plaza Beach Resort Bonaire (80 Julio A. Abraham Blvd.; 599-717-2500) Kralendijk
This 276-room all-inclusive resort has three pools, a beach, and an onsite PADI dive center, along with a house reef and boat diving options. “Luxury resort for families and divers,” writes a Google reviewer. “Just feet from the ocean so you can dive all day every day. The food is also darn good for buffet-style.” A Tripadvisor user writes that “the rooms are modern, stylish, and feature a sleek European-inspired design. This resort has a quiet atmosphere and no loud nightlife or evening shows. Ideal for anyone who enjoys exploring marine life.” >> Book this hotel for less

Enjoy a classic resort experience—two pools, a spa, a casino, and an all-inclusive option at the three restaurants—plus a PADI five-star dive center. “Exceeded all expectations,” writes a Google reviewer. “Breathtaking ocean views and some of the best snorkeling and diving we’ve experienced. The dive shop was fantastic, with a knowledgeable team that made every dive effortless and enjoyable.” Divers can enjoy the house reef or explore boat and shore diving options. “Great dive reef with easy in and out from two docks,” writes a Tripadvisor user. “Boat crew was awesome and helpful ID’ing hard-to-find sea life like sea horses and sea frogs.” >> Book this hotel for less
Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort Bonaire (75B Kaya Gobernador N Debrot; 599-717-0717) Kralendijk
This waterfront resort with a sleek modern aesthetic has its own 5-star PADI dive center and 197 condo-style lodgings ranging from studios with mini kitchens to apartments and villas with full kitchens. A Tripadvisor user likes that “the hotel is right on the seafront with nice restaurants, a pool, and a lazy river. The diving school is literally in front of the hotel.” A Google reviewer writes that “we stayed in the deluxe sea view room and it was definitely worth the upgrade. Mornings sipping coffee while taking in the ocean views were a highlight. We spent a lot of time snorkeling out front and floating on the lazy river.” >> Book this hotel for less
