What is it like to stay at a Four Seasons?
In a nutshell: This iconic hotel brand started off humble—just a motel in Toronto in 1961. A few years later, founder Issy Sharp opened a London hotel “not for dukes or duchesses, but for people who want to be treated that way.” Today Four Seasons counts both downtown hotels and resort-area hotels among its 124 locations. The brand is synonymous with a relaxed luxury rooted in that duchess-worthy, high level of service. Beyond traditional resorts, Four Seasons also includes timeshare-style Private Residences. In addition, there are Private Retreats (villas that come with butler service, breakfast, and in-home spa treatments).
What to expect: Four Seasons properties vary in one way from other brands. Most Four Seasons have a spa, and resort-style properties tend to have pools, golf, and Kids for All Seasons club with childcare and activities for kids. These are the kinds of resorts where you can check in and never leave the premises during a vacation.
Design: Four Seasons tend to be beautiful, tasteful hotels, but never intimidatingly formal. Their décor can reflect their settings. Think adobe casitas with kiva fireplaces in Santa Fe, or the “farmhouse chic” in Napa Valley. But in general one will find a low-key kind of elegance, with simple lines and muted earth tones.
Room categories: Categories vary across properties, ranging from standard rooms (which are generously sized—typically at least 400 or 500 square feet) with a king or two doubles, and a sofabed. To go up a category, book a suite with an extra room. Another option is a villa-style room, which has a patio for extra outdoor space. Rooms typically come with fabulously cozy bathrobes and down pillows and duvets.
Club Floor Upgrade: Some properties have a Club Floor,a separate floor with its own concierge and lounge that includes a complimentary continental breakfast, honor bar, and cocktail-hour hors d’oeuvres.
Fun Facts: In 1997, the Four Seasons Hotel Austin was the first hotel to have a high-speed WiFi network. Various resorts feature in TV and movies. The Beverly Wilshire is famous for being the setting of Pretty Woman, though the movie was not actually filmed there. The Four Seasons Maui at Wailea was the filming location for 2021’s The White Lotus. And while Four Seasons does not have a points-earning, perk-granting loyalty program, the properties are pretty reliable for offering third- or fourth-night free offers on their deals pages.
Four Seasons Amenities

Room Service: Yes.
Wi-Fi: Four Seasons properties typically have free Wi-Fi, both in public spaces and in rooms.
Fitness Room: You’ll typically have a fitness center with exercise machines and weights, sometimes affiliated with the onsite spa .
