No doubt, you can enjoy some world-class snow sports in Aspen. But this posh little Colorado town—200 miles from Denver in the Roaring Fork Valley—is more than just its Rocky Mountain scenery and a quartet of ski resorts. Thanks to its museums, art galleries, high-end shopping, and amazing hotels, this mountain town has become an icon. Here are the best hotels in Aspen.
The Little Nell (675 E. Durant Ave.; 970-920-4600) Aspen Mountain
How glamorous is this 92-room hotel with ski-in, ski-out access to Aspen Mountain? Even Vogue loves it: “Come here for understated luxury, exquisite service, unique offerings like Snowcat stargazing, and unforgettable dining at Element 47.” Rooms come with gas fireplaces and marble bathrooms, in a palette of cream, blue, and chocolate. The hotel generates a seriously loyal following. “This is our sixth year coming here,” says one Google reviewer. “If possible, get a room with a balcony as it makes all the difference. Location is great and everything in town is very walkable.” >> Book this hotel for less
The St. Regis Aspen Resort (315 E. Dean St.; 970-920-3300) Aspen Mountain
This stately brick 179-room hotel sits between Aspen Mountain’s two main ski lifts and offers all the luxuries you’d expect from the high-end brand. “The St. Regis is a Gilded Age mountain manor that would have made John Jacob Astor proud.,” says Condé Nast Traveler, though “the décor has “clean, modern lines—outfitted with floor-to-ceilings windows and bronze and nickel accents.” By all accounts, the hotel lives up to its hype. “It delivers legendary service, without being pretentious,” says a Google reviewer. “The entire hotel vibe is very casual and relaxed, but the staff is very focused and on-point. They make you feel at home.” >> Book this hotel for less
Hotel Jerome (330 E. Main St.; 970-920-1000) Main Street
Aspen’s landmark hotel dates back to 1889 and the town’s silver boom days. The 99-room hotel “offers the perfect blend of modern luxury and historic Old West charm, complete with mounted wooden deer heads and burnished leather bed frames,” says Condé Nast Traveler. Don’t miss the lobby’s iconic J Bar and its milkshake-like cocktail known as Aspen Crud. Guests love the balance of indulgence and laidback charm. “Very quaint rustic hotel newly renovated,” says one Google Reviewer. “Step into the past and feel like western royalty from check-in to check-out.” >> Book this hotel for less
W Aspen (550 S Spring St.; 970-431-0800) Aspen Mountain
This 88-room branch of the hippest Marriott-family brand is a few minutes’ walk from both the closest ski lifts and the Aspen Art Museum. The Telegraph calls it “a swanky-mod chalet that’s bright, bold and hedonistic, with a cocktail grotto, rooftop pool and bar.” Some Tripadvisor users bemoaned the lack of Western ambience, but couldn’t argue with the convenience, or the mountain views from the rooftop hot tub. “The location is perfect,” says one. “The hotel is new. Walking distance to everything, particularly ski slopes. You can rent skis right at the hotel. Pool and jacuzzi perfectly located.” >> Book this hotel for less
Limelight Hotel (355 S Monarch St.; (970-925-3025) Aspen Mountain
In its past life, this 126-room hotel was a 1950s folk bar. In 2008 it became a boutique hotel and underwent a refresh in 2021. “This friendly, unassuming hotel is a breath of fresh air in Colorado’s most expensive mountain town,” says Forbes. “It offers helpful amenities, beautiful vistas and unfussy luxury.” Perks include a free shuttle and a complimentary breakfast buffet. Tripadvisor reviewers say it feels welcoming—including for dogs: “We had a fireplace and great views. We had our dog with us and they provided a nice bed and bowls for him. Breakfast was a great amenity and the staff were all so friendly. Great location, across from a park for our dog and walking distance to the mountain and restaurants.” >> Book this hotel for less
